How does it work? (A Step-by-Step guide for beginners)
Do you want to open an online store? Then you've arrived at the right place. This blog will show you how to start your own online store. When you are starting a business for the first time, it appears to be very complicated. Many people wonder, "How do I start an online store?" Where should I begin? Will I make money or not?
"When starting out, forget about big investments in stock or website," says one of my favourite quotes. Test your product by opening a Shopify store and beginning to market it."
Don't worry, I'll assist you. This blog contains everything you need to get started from the ground up. I recommend that you follow the instructions and experiment with adding new features to your Shopify store before launching it. Before we begin, let's take a look at Shopify.
Shopify is a full-service e-commerce platform that allows you to launch and manage your online store. Shopify provides services for creating your own beautiful websites and selling and managing your products through their shopping cart. Shopify gives you access to an easy-to-use admin panel from which you can add products, process orders, and do a variety of other things.
What are the reasons you Choose the Shopify Platform?
The online store for E-commerce businesses should be accessible, flexible, and simple to use. All of these features are provided by Shopify. You will have no trouble selling your products.
No need to worry about Coding
By using Shopify, a user will have the impression that he is not using a technical website. If you are a non-technical user, Shopify is the best platform for you to start your business. It includes a variety of themes that allow you to create a beautiful and appealing storefront without any coding or design experience.
Customer Support
Shopify provides 24-hour support, so your business will never be disrupted due to a malfunction. Shopify provides customer service via phone, email, and live chat.
Mobile Responsive
Because half of all e-commerce transactions are conducted via mobile, Shopify offers mobile responsive themes. You can now make more money from your mobile customers. It also comes with a free mobile commerce shopping cart built in.
Customization Apps
There will be an app for selling products, adding product reviews, and offering additional shipping options.
Step by Step guide to creating a Shopify store
Step 1: Sign Up with Shopify
Shopify makes it simple to launch your own online store right away. To get you started, Shopify provides a 14-day free trial. Visit Shopify.com to sign up. To proceed, fill out the signup form with your email address and click "Start a free trial." A pop-up box will appear after you click the button, as shown in the image below.
Enter your email address, password, and the name of your store. When you're done, click the "Create your store" button.
Remember that your store name must be unique or Shopify will notify you to choose a new one. Choosing a name is important, but don't spend too much time on it. Choose names that are simple and appealing.
For my Shopify app, for example, I've chosen the
Order Delivery Date. List a few names and see if they are not trademarked and have an available.com domain, which will aid in SEO results. You simply need to include keywords related to your business. It will suggest a list of names that are related to your keywords. You can easily choose your preferred business name. When choosing a domain name, keep it simple and relevant.
Step 2: Pick your Theme
Shopify has its own theme store with a large selection of beautiful themes. You are no longer required to code. You can select any of Shopify's pre-made templates from their theme store. You will be given a list of modifications without having to do any coding, but premium themes have more modifications than free themes.
Explore the Theme Store
Log in to Shopify and go to the theme store. There are over 180 different themes to choose from, with both paid and free options. You can sort them by price, popularity, or date. Remember that your theme should be related to the products you're selling.
Check the Theme’s functionality and reviews
After you've found a theme, click on the theme's sample image. From there, you can learn whether the theme is responsive or mobile-ready. You can also read more reviews to learn about other E-commerce store owners' experiences with this theme after trying it.
Preview the Theme
To see a preview of the theme, click "View Demo" to see the theme in action. If the theme includes a variety of styles, you can view those demos by clicking on them.
Get the Theme
To begin with this theme, click the "Start with this theme" button. Shopify will then confirm whether you want to install the theme or not. To begin the installation, click the "Publish as my store's theme" button. Shopify notifies you that your theme has been installed after it has been successfully installed.
Following this procedure, you will be able to return to your theme manager. "Go to your Theme Manager" should appear. Your Theme Manager now displays both published and unpublished themes.
Step 3: Edit Shopify Settings
Most Shopify themes allow you to make one-of-a-kind changes by adjusting a few simple settings. This will help you stand out from the crowd.

To add products, go to the admin bar and select "Products." You should now see a blue button labelled "Add a product." Click on it. Don't forget to click the "Save Product" button once everything has been filled out.
Set up collections
A collection is a group of products that are similar. When customers visit your store, they may be looking for:
1) Clothing for men, women, or kids.
2) Home decors
3) Electronics
Products can appear in an unlimited number of collections. As a result, customers may be able to easily find and purchase their desired products.
Manual vs. Automatic Collections
When you create a new collection, you have the option of adding products to it. You have two options.
Manually
Individual products can be added and removed from a collection on this page.
Automatically
You can create conditions based on specific criteria to automatically include products.
Step 5: Set up payment
It's now time to add a payment gateway. Payment gateways allow you to accept payments from customers via your website. To set up payments, go to "Settings," and then to "Payments." Clicking on it will take you to a payment page with a list of available payment gateways.
I would recommend PayPal. If you do not already have a PayPal account, create one at PayPal.com. Take some important considerations into account when choosing a payment gateway for your online store.
Transaction Fees
Some payment gateways charge flat fees to use their services. In comparison to the payment gateway, you will be able to see the profit made from sales.
Card Types
You should be aware of the different types of cards used for transactions, such as VISA and Mastercard. Because different payment gateways accept different card types, double-check before proceeding to the payment gateway. All accept VISA, Mastercard, and American Express, and some accept Discover.
Offsite Checkout
Some payment gateways use Offsite Checkout, which means that customers are directed away from your website and to a separate form for secure payment. The customer will be redirected to the confirmation page once the payment has been completed.
Step 6: Set up Taxes and Shipping
Yes, you're getting closer to the finish line. Come on, let's finish this.
Add General Details
Before you launch your store, double-check that all of the details are correct. Go to "Settings," then "General," and fill in the blanks. This can be used as evidence to track the visitors to your store.
Taxes
Some stores, for example, will not charge taxes if they sell digital products, whereas others will charge taxes if they sell physical items.
To set up product taxes in Shopify, follow the steps below.
1) Navigate to the "Products" page.
2) Select a product by clicking its name.
3) Scroll down to the Pricing section and select the checkbox labeled "Charge taxes on this product."
Shipping
Shipping charges will be assessed based on the rules that you have previously established on the Shipping page. To configure the shipping rate, navigate to the Settings > Shipping page.
Step 7: Test your order system
There are two ways to test your order system. One method is to simulate a transaction using Shopify's Bogus Gateway. The other option is to use a legitimate payment provider from which you can cancel and refund the order.
To test your order system with the Bogus system, follow the steps below:
1) Navigate to Settings > Payments.
2) Before proceeding, ensure that the credit card payment provider that is already active is deactivated. If not, select Edit, then Deactivate and then confirm your deactivation.
To test your order system using a real payment provider
1) Ensure that the payment gateway you want to test is configured.
2) Now, order anything from your shop as if you were a customer, and complete the checkout process with your real credit card information.
3) Now cancel the order immediately in order to receive a refund and avoid paying transaction fees.
Is this free?
Yes, it is free; just make sure to cancel and refund the order as soon as possible after placing it. If the billing cycle begins after you place a test order but before you cancel it, the transaction fees will be reflected on your bill. You can still cancel after paying the bill, but the refund will be in the form of transaction credit on your account, which you can use to pay the transaction fees later.
Step 8: Purchase & Setup your Domain Name
A domain name is required to make your website live.
There are two ways to purchase a domain name. You can purchase directly from Shopify, which will add the item to your E-commerce store. I believe this is a better option for someone who has no idea how to purchase and register a domain. Alternatively, you can purchase a domain from a third-party registrar such as GoDaddy or Bluehost. To purchase a domain name from Shopify, follow the steps below:
1. Connect your selected domain name with Shopify
Navigate to Online Store > Domains in the dashboard. "Connect existing domain" will appear here. Then click the "Next" button.
2. Update your DNS records
1) Under the domain management section click on DNS Zone Editor.
2) Go to the Select a Domain section then click on the drop-down menu and select the domain name that you want to update.
3) Now add or replace the www CNAME to shops.myshopify.com and click save.
4) Go back to Shopify’s admin area and click Verify connection from the Domains
3. Remove your Shopify storefront passwords
To remove the password, navigate to Online Store > Themes and look for a yellow box that asks you to remove your store password.
4. Set the store’s domain as the primary
Make sure that Shopify has listed the correct domain name as your site's primary domain in Settings > Domains.
5. Add other domains (if needed)
If necessary, you can always add more domains. Repetition of steps 1 and 2 will redirect your other domain names to your primary domain.
Yeah, your online store is ready!
